If you’ve been holding out for a 32 bedroom, 32 bathroom home perched on an island in the middle of a misty lake in China, well here’s your chance.

‘Taohuayuan’ - which translates to Utopia or Peace Blossom Land - is on the market, but as you can imagine, a property like this doesn’t come cheap.

Interested buyers can expect to fork out around $200 million AUD, or one billion Chinese Yuan, to secure one of the world’s most spectacular properties, situated one-and-a-half hours drive from Shanghai.

The newly-built home took more than three years to construct, and is built in the style of traditional Chinese homes with a courtyard-style layout and upturned roofs.

The sprawling, has-to-be-seen-to-be-believed property sits on the edge of Suzhou’s Dushu Lake, and comes with rock gardens, opulent interiors, 32 south-facing bedrooms, a swimming pool, jaw-dropping lake views, and a grand walk-in wine cellar.

It comes as little surprise that Taohuayuan is China’s most expensive home - just one property in Hong Kong has sold for more.

Let the bidding begin.
