Airbnb is turning the Louvre into an apartment

Lovers of the Louvre rejoice — Airbnb has partnered with the Museé du Louvre to transform the entire museum into a bookable apartment, of sorts.

It’s been 30 years since the iconic glass pyramid was built as an expansion for the Louvre, and to celebrate Airbnb is giving one lucky winner and a guest of their choice the opportunity to experience one night sleeping beneath the iconic glass pyramid.

Your evening begins with an aperitif in Mona Lisa’s living room, nestled in the heart of the Louvre, complete with bar cart and sumptuous armchairs. Afterwards, a VIP guide will take you and your guest on an exclusive after-hours tour of the museum — a privilege previously only offered to celebrities and presidents. 

Dinner is dished up by your personal chef. The colourful menu has been inspired by love and beauty, in honour of the Venus of Milo statue which will preside over the evening’s meal courses. 

Once you’ve finished eating, post-dinner entertainment will be held in Napoleon III’s elegant apartments. Sit and absorb the soothing sounds of your own personal acoustic concert beneath the elegant chandelier and sculptured ceiling.

As the night winds up, relax in a luxurious bed beneath a frosted glass pyramid inside the museum’s central I.M. Pei-designed glass pyramid. The Paris night sky will keep you company as you go to sleep.

While the unforgettable once-in-a-lifetime chance to enjoy a sleepover at the Louvre exists for only two people, Airbnb and Museé du Louvre are offering a series of other unique experiences. Starting in May, the Café Richelieu inside the museum will host intimate concerts by emerging French artists.
