The Interior Trends

This season, we are seeing a fresh revival of some classic design trends. These are the top five we will be seeing throughout 2014 and 2015

Corduroy –
Instead of trousers, many designers are bringing corduroy into their focus this year. We are seeing bold statements in upholstery, and wide, eye-catching bands of cord.
Using this velvet alternative can have great effect – the interesting texture adds depth to any room and is a great fabric to use across cushions, couches and even rugs for an unusual twist.  

Ethnic details –
Ethnic fabrics, upholstery and prints look like they will be a popular trend this year.  Adding a fresh pizazz to your home from far off exotic lands can break up boring bland interiors which are especially common with rental properties. They are also a great way of adding warmth to large, cold spaces.  Even better, authentic pieces can make for fantastic conversation starters and just ooze culture and intrigue.  

Scandi Cool-
The simple elegance that embodies the Scandinavian home will never go out of style.  This trend is asexual and ideal in shared households, looking chic in winter and refreshingly cool in summer.  Combine tonal greys with graphic prints and a pop of colour for a no-fuss update to your living space.

Mend and Make Do -
The throw-away culture is dying down, as people are becoming more environmentally aware and the downturn of the economy.
Remastered antiques and reupholstered furniture also ensures that your home contains unique and one-of-a-kind pieces, which are becoming hard to find in a retail-heavy culture.

High Glamour Tradition -
In recent decades, velvet furniture, chandeliers and large floral pattern wall paper seemed tired and old-fashioned. However, bright jewel tones and metallic highlights are breathing life back into this classically elegant look. 

This trend is all about creating mood.  Huge expanses of plain white, lifeless walls will be replaced with interest, mood and character.  Think daring and valorous, making a statement with every element of the design. Interesting and metallic accessories will be the perfect accompaniment; supplementing, complimenting and adding to the glam.
