It’s time to get organised for 2016, so that means your recycling has to be up to scratch!

Recycling is easy, simple and effective. All you have to do is make that extra effort to separate your rubbish into two different bins.

Recycling is the conversion of waste into new, usable materials  conserves resources and raw materials to conserve raw resources, protect natural habitats for the future and save energy. 

Not only does it save energy but it helps protect the environment, as it reduces the need for extracting, refining and processing raw materials which create substantial air and water pollution. 

There are plenty of things you can do at home to recycle, here are some starter points: 

  • Do you research - make sure you no what you can recycle and what you can’t…you’ll be surprised!
  • Call your local waste management services to determine what days recycling is collected. 
  • The starter key is a good storage bin setup, separate your waste. Make them colourful and stylish to make recycling more exciting for the kids, while keeping your home fashionable and neat. Once this is done, it’s easy and efficient. 
  • Wash out the things that you’re recycling before you put it in the bin- e.g. glass jars.
  • Label recycling bins to distinguish the normal from the recycling. 
  • Flatten any cardboard boxes before putting them in the bin.
  • Recycle in the Bathroom: toothpaste boxes, toilet roll tubes, shampoo and conditioner bottles, liquid soap bottles. 
  • Recycle in the Bedroom- tissue boxes, magazines, deodorant cans, hairspray cans. 
  • Recycle in the Living Room- envelopes, newspapers, old letters. 
  • Recycle in the Kitchen- washing up liquid bottles, dishwasher tablet boxes, glad wrap boxes, aluminium foil and packaging. 

Recycling really does make a difference and it something everyone in the house can get involved in. Even a simple and fun system well help to get the kids involved!
