The Queen's NYC Pad

Reports yesterday suggested that Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II, the Queen of 16 of the 53 member states in the Commonwealth of Nations, had added a new New York City apartment to her property portfolio.

The apartment purchase made the people cheer that Queen Elizabeth II was hip enough to buy a trendy penthouse apartment - however, it is has been revealed, to utter outrage, that New Zealand are the actual purchasers - with the purchaser labelled as 'Her Majesty the Queen in the Right of New Zealand'.

The apartment will be used for the UN representative, Gerard van Bohemen, as he is positioned in New York - in total and utter luxury.

The $10.3m, to which the apartment was purchased for, was paid by the New Zealand people, and the purchase has been questioned already throughout.

Foreign affairs spokesman, David Shearer, reflected the outrage to stuff.co.nz

"While Kiwis are working hard to afford their own house the Government is buying lavish penthouses ... frankly it's outrageous,"

The purchase came at a time when Queen Elizabeth II was told that Buckingham Palace would require around £150m ($306m AUD) of renovations to keep it up-to-date. For those playing at home, wondering why it is costing so much, please remember that Buckingham Palace has 775 rooms in total; including 19 state rooms, 52 Royal and guest bedrooms, 188 staff bedrooms, 92 offices and 78 bathrooms - that all equates to around £198,000 ($394,000aud) per room - so the cost...isn't too...exuberant and expensive?

The Queen, whilst Buckingham Palace is being renovated, has many homes, castles and mansions to stay at whilst it is getting a face-lift, such as Windsor Castle, Palace of Holyroodhouse and of course, Hillsborough House.

So for all those feeling dizzy that the Queen may end up being homeless, fear not!
