Collingwood is one of Melbourne’s most sought after suburbs - riddled with culture and convenience, it is no wonder that Gurner’s latest development is in the heart of it.

107 Cambridge, a luxury offering, developed by Gurner, is inspired by New York’s infamous meat-packing district, is a development of around 90 apartments over six floors, seamlessly morphing into the current 1880s warehouse façade.

Tim Gurner, Director of Gurner, said he had always held an affinity for New York’s luxury loft-style living, particularly in the meat packing district which has recently undergone a period of significant gentrification to now boast some of New York’s most expensive and coveted heritage loft apartments.

“ I have always been fascinated by New York and in particular the meat packing district; I love the way these derelict factories and warehouses have been effortlessly converted into these incredible luxury apartments.

“ I had wanted to recreate a similar feeling in one of our projects back home for quite some time but it wasn’t until we purchased the heritage Cambridge Street site that I felt we had the opportunity to create something truly special that will stand on par with some of the best conversions in the world”, he said.

Designed by the ever-talented Elenberg Fraser, 107 Cambridge St is one of the last remaining developable sites within the historic ‘Foy and Gibson’ precinct, which is the City of Yarra’s most historically significant precinct housing a series of 19th Century industrial warehouses and factories.

Described by Tim Gurner as a “real love project”, inside each apartment, Gurner has spared no expense with a brief to Elenberg Fraser to “design the interiors as if they were creating a one-off custom residence rather than an apartment project” to cater for Melbourne’s sophisticated owner occupier market.

“ I do not believe the commercial development market has ever seen internal finishes to this level before and I don’t think you will see it again due to the costs involved in delivering such a bespoke level of detail,” said Gurner.

And it does not end there, Gurner wants to push his presence into the market even more, and 107 Cambridge, which, much like Gurner’s previous work, will be a hit.

Gurner’s last project, Ikebana, sold out in almost record-time, and the precedent has been set.

“ The real estate market is really starting to embrace apartment living and buyers are incredibly savvy when it comes to inclusions and quality design.

“ What we aim to achieve across all Gurner projects is to deliver a level of quality that surpasses expectations to set a new benchmark for designer living in high density apartments,” he said.

107 Cambridge St features 90 apartments and retail at ground floor, with 45 one-bedroom and 44 two-bedroom apartments along with 1 three-bedroom penthouse. Apartments range from 53sqm to 141sqm and start from $385,000.
