Composed by the visionaries at Ewert Leaf, Central Park is inspired by an idyllic parkside address — and Melbourne’s leading landscape designer, Jack Merlo, has curated the project’s sublime gardens.
When asked about his designs for Central Park, Jack Merlo said, “Working closely with Roulston and Ewert Leaf, we were able to take advantage of the set back from the street frontage to provide a substantial, generously sized courtyard and garden areas adjacent to the apartments.
The living spaces flow seamlessly into generously sized courtyards, with large sliding doors that provide direct integration between the inside and the outside. This means residents are able to enjoy an aspect of greenery from every room within the home.
“Emulating the real Central Park, we selected plants with dense green vegetation so you really will feel like you’re seated within your own private oasis,” Merlo explained.
Many of the plants are self-sufficient, he said, and require very little maintenance — something many of those downsizing from larger homes in the suburbs will appreciate.
The stunning gardens complement the sophisticated interiors of each of the residences. Taking cues from the natural environment, each home has been crafted with the utmost sophistication and precision.
High ceilings and expansive gallery-style walls create a sense of ‘house-like’ proportions while the neutral palette of tones and textures include raw stone surfaces, rich carpets and warm oak floors.
Residents can recline by the fireplace in the living area, highlighted by apple soft-closing joinery. Alternately, enjoy cooking up feasts in kitchens which come complete with Miele appliances, integrated fridges and freezers as well as wine fridges.
Bathrooms have been in-laid with elegant Signorino tiles, emulating a spa-like atmosphere while bedrooms feature wardrobes fitted with New Age Veneers bespoke joinery, specifically selected for the material’s long-lasting quality and refined aesthetic.
Not many can say their backyard consists of 19 acres of luxuriant greenery, century-old avenue trees and Edwardian-style gardens — but Central Park residents can. The project is located directly opposite an iconic park of the same name.
Within the park, residents can visit Victoria’s oldest conservatory, play a game on the bocce court, or train on the scenic running track. Whether basking in the sun or relishing the crisp winter air, Central Park makes for the perfect backyard.
