Australand and the Department of Human Services have joined together to develop a brand new 9-storey apartment block.

Designed to rejuvinate the current public-housing in the area, this new development, is set to add a private component to the public housing sector already. This development is the eighth building that has been developed and constructed by Australand as part of a strong commitment to rejuvinate areas of Carlton that had previouslty been neglected. These include over 243 public housing residences that were already finished last year.

Australand's Victorian general manager, Robert Pradolin, was enthused with the run of projects that Australand had produced, and was looking towards the future.

"The building height and form has been designed to ensure there is no additional overshadowing of the Community Garden to the south...", Mr Pradolin said.

"This is now the delivery of the private component. We've got two more buildings to go. We have no finished our social agreement".

In 2009, Australand and Citta Property Group formed together in a venture to co-create the Living Carlton Consortium.

Designed by Jackson Clement-Burrows, this $35m development will offer a range of apartments, from one to three bedroom apartments that will meet the needs and desires of those with mobility issues.
