Melbourne's CBD is going through a renaissance - a renewal of high-rise apartments. Eq. Tower is the latest 'above the clouds living' complex to compliment Melbourne's skyline.

And recently, ICD Property has appointed building giants, Brookfields Multiplex to construct this landmark apartment project.

The circa $169 million construction contract marks a significant milestone for the 63-level residential project which sold out well ahead of expectations in November last year, with the bulk of apartments selling out in under 12 weeks.

Comprising 633-one, two and three bedroom apartments architecturally design by Elenberg Fraser, Eq. Tower will feature an impressive collection of communal amenities including a 25 metre outdoor swimming pool and BBQ area, indoor gym, sauna, spa, private dining rooms, karaoke suites, cinema, games room and lounges.

ICD Property Director of Finance and Development Manager, Matthew Khoo said this is the first venture with the prominent building contractor that has over 50 years of experience in shaping Australia’s skylines.

“Eq. Tower is a complex project in terms of its scope of amenity, its intricate curved façade and the innovative techniques used to design the building. With this in mind we knew we wanted to partner with Brookfield Multiplex due to their long-standing reputation for delivering world-class, complex projects.

“With the project fully sold out after less than eight months on the market, buyers have been quick to realise the lifestyle potential at Eq. Tower.

“The development will immediately transform A’Beckett Street through its shopping and café offering, while being a short stroll from the city’s iconic landmarks such as Melbourne Central and the Queen Victoria Market,” said Khoo.

Graham Cottam, Regional Managing Director of Brookfield Multiplex Victoria said: “EQ Tower will build on our strong credentials in delivering high-rise apartments in Melbourne’s CBD. Our dominance in this specialised arena of the residential development sector enables us to successfully deliver complex designs within the busy, operational environment of the city.”

Brookfield Multiplex currently has five projects under construction in Melbourne’s CBD including the $300 million Prima Tower in Southbank, $280 million Platinum tower in Southbank and the final two stages of Upper West Side Apartments in the CBD valued at $300 million.

Innovatively designed by architects Elenberg Fraser, Eq. Tower has a curtain wall glass facade designed using a parametric equation which analysed weather patterns, sunlight, views and apartment usage to ensure no space was underutilised and natural light could be delivered to all living and bedroom spaces.

Sustainable elements have also been considered throughout the development including a green wall façade on the podium, rainwater harvesting and re-use, photovoltaic solar panels, water efficient fixtures and appliances and high performance double glazing used throughout.

Khoo adds that Eq. Tower is a joint venture project with Sino-Ocean Land, and is the third development under construction for ICD Property with a portfolio spanning residential apartments, broad acre and mixed-use sites.

With construction of the development already underway, Eq. Tower is on track for completion in June 2017.

Eq. Tower is located at 127 - 141 A’Beckett Street, Melbourne.
