Melbourne is a major cultural capital in Australia, and there is one suburb in particular that is becoming one of the most iconic arts precincts – Southbank. And the new development FOCUS Melbourne by Central Equity puts residents at the heart of the action.

Located just minutes away from these new apartments, the Andrews Government has plans to transform the Carlton & United Breweries site into a world-leading contemporary gallery, as part of a $1 billion spend on the Southbank arts precinct. Positioned near the existing Arts Centre and National Gallery of Victoria, the new hub will include open spaces and dining options, as well as live music and performance areas.

In addition to this, other areas within Southbank are being revitalised. The City of Melbourne has commenced work transforming Southbank Boulevard and Dodds Street, as part of a plan to create active public spaces that can be used as art and performance spaces. Additional walking and cycling paths will be built, acting as a connection to the Domain Precinct.  The council also plans to plant an extensive network of trees and hope to create a potential for “green” tram tracks. All of this will be located less than five minutes from FOCUS Melbourne’s doorstep.

The range of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments at Central Equity’s newest project has also been perfectly placed to allow easy access to many of Melbourne’s finest theatres and performance spaces. Less than ten minutes on foot, the Malthouse Theatre showcases the best of local and international artists with a focus on alternative contemporary performance art.

And, with a dining precinct along the river and a variety of retail outlets in the nearby CBD, residents can get to all the important places on foot. Walk to St Kilda Road in less than 10-minutes and explore the beautifully landscaped reserves within the Domain Precinct. From the Royal Botanic Gardens to the Pioneer Women’s Memorial Gardens, weekends can be spent connecting with nature.

Sports enthusiasts will appreciate the close proximity to iconic sports grounds. With Rod Laver Arena, the MCG and Etihad Stadium only a fifteen minute trip away, game day can be spent relaxing instead of waiting for an Uber or riding a packed tram to or from the grounds.

When all is said and done, however, these new Southbank homes are an ideal retreat from the hustle and bustle of the day to day. With 2.7m high ceilings and floor-to-ceiling windows, the open plan layouts have been specifically designed with a true sense of space.

The residents-only gym, glass-roofed indoor pool, and sauna provide a decadent setting for a personalised workout, while the residents’ lounge and dining area connect to a landscaped terrace complete with BBQ facilities – perfect for entertaining friends and family.

With select few new apartment developments in the area, FOCUS Melbourne is your chance to get in on the ground floor of the exciting new Southbank Arts Precinct rejuvenation.
