Hawthorn: Meet Longhouse

Hawthorn is one of those classic, timeless Melbourne suburbs people aspire to live in.

Just a short drive from the city’s heart, it’s full of heritage mansions intermingled with contemporary properties, creating a highly sought-after postcode.

But now, with the emergence of luxury apartment developments, entering the Hawthorn market is possible.

Vertical gardens will run up segments of the exterior, and a glazed see-through wall, will allow outsiders to observe a state-of-the-art car stacker system inside the apartment complex; these differing textures helping to create a truly modern and groundbreaking masterpiece.

“To get planning approval, we couldn’t construct a building with just one look and feel, it would have been too much for the street. So this was a great challenge for Jam Architects to take up, and they’ve done a fantastic job,” Mr Leoncelli says.

“We’ve got all of these different elements, timber, concrete, vertical walls, combining to make the facade very interesting and different. But with that being said, it’s not a Hodge-podge of styles, there is a real elegance and contemporary style that keeps it together.”

As for the location, well there is a reason why Hawthorn is a premium postcode.

Just four stops from the CBD on a train, or a quick car trip, Hawthorn also boasts a thriving café and restaurant culture, which Longhouse conveniently sits within.

Hawthorn Oval, the Central Gardens and the Aquatic and Leisure Centre are all within walking distance, positioning you at the centre of an active community filled with the amenities that make a suburb feel like home.
