As Sydney continues to grow and develop, so too does the demand for natural space with plenty of trees and greenery.

It seems the more connected we are to technology and city living, the more we crave the simplicity of the earth beneath our feet and the shade of a large, leafy tree from Sydney’s scorching sun.

A new development in North Sydney– ‘East Lane’ - is attempting to strike the perfect balance between modern splendour and nature’s beauty.

Nestled next to a towering fig tree, the development will incorporate greenery on every level.

At entry, there will be an atrium featuring vertical gardens, while natural light will saturate every one, two or three bedroom apartment on offer.

“It’s about softening the surrounds,” explains Savills’ Nigel Napoli.

“The building will be built around a piazza which features a mature fig tree.”

The muted colour palette of natural tones and textures further highlights this affinity with nature, to create a homely and comfortable environment.

Think stone benchtops, timber floorboards, and stainless steel appliances.

Designed by award-wining architects Nettleton Tribe, the boutique development will contain 36 apartments, each with their own balcony or private winter garden, while the ground floor will soon be home to a cafe or gourmet provedore.

So far, the development has appealed to a broad range of buyers.

“It has got a fairly good cross-section of buyers. There is a smattering of first home buyers and others that love the location, are second or third buyers who are wanting to move there, they are trading their property for a better location,” says Mr Napoli.

“Also, the fact that it’s an island site with no adjoining property has proven to be a big attraction, as is the forthcoming Metro rail, which will deliver two stations within 800 metres.”

East Lane sits in a charming laneway in the exclusive Lower North Shore pocket.

And with all of the essentials within walking distance, it’s unlikely you’ll need your car to get from A to B.

The bustling strip of cafes and restaurants in Crows Nest is within close proximity, as is Greenwood and Aldi, making local shopping easy.

Meanwhile the heart of Sydney’s business district is three kilometres away, the North Sydney CBD is even closer, and there is an array of public transport options on your doorstep, including the North Sydney train station.

There are also a plethora of schools, including North Sydney Girls and North Sydney Boys High Schools, the Australian Catholic University and North Sydney Oval.
