Pace of Blackburn is the first of its kind in Melbourne’s eastern suburbs. Offering spacious homes and an unprecedented level of amenity, the project has been designed to respond to the growing number of families seeking affordable apartment living.

The mixed-use development is launching its first of two residential towers, comprising a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments which range from 54 sqm to 117 sqm in size.

The site was originally purchased in 2018 with an existing planning permit, however, a redesign was executed by Ascui & Co to produce a concept aligned with Pace’s vision for a more contextual design which would integrate with the existing character of Blackburn and serve the needs of future inhabitants.

“The architectural response by Ascui & Co adopted a darker base tone, with the inclusion of colour to enhance the building’s street presence,” says Danielle Titterton, sales and marketing director at Pace.

“Set to incorporate an abundance of greenery, our brief was to keep the landscaped gardens by MDG visible from the exterior and to integrate the building with the existing leafy streetscapes of Blackburn.”

Inside, many apartments feature a butler’s pantry and built-in table seating with kitchen island — purposely included to free up floor space and ensure residents are given the same amount of room as would be available in a traditional family home.

Entertaining will be easy yet sophisticated with the inclusion of Miele appliances and striking smoked glass splashbacks.

When food is prepared, it can be taken through the sliding doors and enjoyed on the outdoor balconies — spanning up to 75 sqm in size — where residents will enjoy spectacular views of the Dandenong Ranges in the backdrop.

Shared residential amenities include an 18-metre lap pool and children’s pool, barbecue facilities, a private dining room, and a communal library. A 12-hour concierge with a cool-room can accept deliveries on behalf of residents, including groceries — perfect for families on the go.

“Pace has spent considerable time researching the evolving needs of modern families to create a project that directly responds to their lifestyle preferences,” Titterton says.

“With this audience in mind, the project delivers convenient services for time-poor professionals as well as functional spaces for family entertaining. Our goal is to take family apartment living to a new level in Melbourne.”

Bucking the national trend, Blackburn’s capital growth over the past 12 months sits at 11.15% for apartments, presenting an attractive buying opportunity for investors. With residences starting at $385,000, the offering is priced well below the median house price of $1.3 million.

The Pace of Blackburn display suite is now open, located at 160 Whitehorse Road in Blackburn.
