Far East Consortium, a Hong Kong developer, has been approved to built Melbourne's first Ritz Carlton.

Partnering with Ritz-Calton Hotel Group, Far East Consortium will build the hotel at 250 Spencer St, Melbourne - a prime location for one of the world's most premier hotel chains.

Possessing 250 rooms, it will become Australia's tallest hotel - with mixed use abilities attached, such as retail precincts, restaurants and some residential apartments.

The projects will also include a 3-4 star hotel in tower three, approx. 7000sqm of retail space on ground level, a new laneway connecting Lonsdale St and Little Lonsdale St and approx. 475sqm of open park space.

The story of The Ritz-Carlton begins with Swiss hotelier César Ritz who was well known in the hotel industry as the "king of hoteliers and hotelier to kings".

Following the fame, the death and the controversy behind the Ritz Carlton Sydney - Bill Clinton stayed there, Michael Hutchence died there, and a secret brothel operated there - Melbourne's Ritz Carlton may become the Ritz Carlton's Asia-Pacific cover-boy.

The Ritz Carlton Hotel will anchor the luxurious West Side Place development. To find out more about the latest releases at West Side Place, read about it here or enquire here.
