Apartments around Melbourne’s iconic Chapel Street don’t just attract fashionistas. With easy access to transport, plenty of restaurants and bars, plus lashings of old-school heritage architecture, the area continues to have wide appeal. Windsor Terrace is about to launch into this bustling landscape with its stylish collection of 52 one, two and three bedroom apartments.

To add something new to the current apartment approach, developers Topgan teamed up with one of Australia’s leading and largest architectural practices, Hayball. With over 30 years and hundreds of projects to their credit, Hayball took their eye for detail and created a selection of apartments that tap into the vibrancy of the location.

As is evident from the project renders we’ve seen, Windsor Terrace combines a beautiful heritage street façade with the contrasting modern materials of the apartments to create a residential project that directly responds to both the past and the future. “We wanted to take all the iconic aspects of traditional Victorian terrace houses and apply them in a modern apartment context,” says Ann Lau, Director, Hayball Architects. “It felt so reminiscent of the iconic make-up of the neighbourhood itself.”

In keeping with the heritage location, each apartment features classic high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows with a decidedly minimalist approach. Hayball’s interior designs are built around neutral palettes with contrasting bold touches. Refined bronze elements then add a dash of metallic contemporary detailing. Industrial meets refined elegance here, so you feel a little bit urban, a little bit luxurious.

With so many great eateries on your doorstep your kitchen may have to fight for your attention, and it does so with light and bright joinery, bold matt black tapware and whitewashed timber flooring to add a sense of space. Defined by clean lines, this carefully planned space is designed to be as luxurious as it is functional, complete with European appliances and marble finishes.

If, like us, you want your bathroom to be more than just a functional space, you’ll love the indulgence here. With large, mirrored storage, hotel-scaled floor and wall tiles and contrasting matt black fixtures, the simplicity and elegance shine through. Balconies are spacious, with views of the city or beyond. And many apartments have been thoughtfully designed to incorporate an inner courtyard for complete outdoor privacy.

If you know Windsor, you know the list of eateries, shops and bars would fill this entire article. Cool brands, coffee spots, exclusive bars and vintage treasure troves abound. Make Prahran Market your new Sunday morning destination, grab a roast and stock up on fresh veggies and gourmet ingredients for the week. Head to the art deco gorgeousness of the Astor Theatre and catch some back-to-back classics.
