Verso offers the best of new and old world Northcote. It captures what is authentic about the suburb.
Verso is a discreet, four-level building consisting of only 28 apartments. Caydon’s architectural and design team have created an engaging external design, sympathetic to its location in a quiet, side street.
The building design was inspired by a feel for refined retro – an aesthetic that invokes nostalgia and creates an immediate connection between the past and present.
The top levels feature attractive, spacious balconies with curved frontages reminiscent of old Northcote. The building’s external materials, mainly brick and metal, create interest and assist with the sense of modern accessibility and retro appeal. Ground level apartments have the rare benefit of individual access to the street via gates leading from private landscaped courtyards.
Northcote has a Walkscore of 93 (source: walkscore.com) so residents will rarely need their cars. However Verso apartments come complete with the convenience of their own off-street, underground car space.
Beautiful apartment interiors include the natural colours and textures of timber and stone in thoughtfully designed kitchens. Most kitchens feature a fixed island bench with cooktop and a suspended range hood. Select apartments also have the option of a mobile kitchen/dining bench, an innovative combination of bench space and dining table on castors. Created exclusively for Verso by Caydon designers, it is a stylish and inventive addition to the interior space.
Storage is well catered for in peaceful bathrooms that contain full height cupboards, as well as elegant shelving incorporated into sophisticated designs. Floor to ceiling porcelain tiling in a soft grey complements dark, gun metal grey tapware.
As one of Melbourne’s evolving inner suburbs, Northcote offers the ideal location for a busy life. Verso is just 50m walk from High Street, one of the city’s most dynamic and creative locations, home to a vibrant mix of retailers, bars, pubs, cafes and restaurants. This is a genuinely cosmopolitan destination for people serious about their food and coffee. Public transport is frequent and includes trams, buses and trains that connect to Melbourne’s CBD, just 6 kms away. Verso is close to the picturesque All Nations Park, a 13-hectare parkland featuring beautiful views of the area. Numerous sporting ovals, running trails along Merri Creek and the nearby Northcote Aquatic and Recreation Centre provide the ideal haven for fitness enthusiasts.
